Wentworth Castle Gardens, Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Wentworth Castle Gardens is a relatively new venue and has only been licenced for civil marriages for a few months. After years of being in a poor state of repair, work began in summer 2005 on a £15.15m programme to restore and develop the estate. It’s really quite an unknown gem and well worth a visit - the cappuccinos are excellent in the Home Farm coffee shop!

The Long Barn upstairs at Home Farm was the venue for the wedding of Amanda and Steve. It’s a lovely room, really light with interesting architectural features too. The gardens are extensive and wrap around the castle itself. Stainborough Castle is at the top of the estate and is a really old castle with traditional turrets and stonework. Even on a wintery March day the gardens looked fabulous.
